|
At age 18, Jacob graduated from Good Counsel Homeschool (the Curleys' homeschool) and at the same time simultaneously graduated with his Associate of Science Degree from Monroe County Community College in Michigan. |
Jacob will turn 21 in the fall of 2010. He is currently attending Northeastern State University (Tahlequah, OK) as a Baccalaureate Scholar (NSU's highest scholarship honor) and plans to graduate May, 2012 with a major in mathematics, a minor in history and completion of his pre-med requirements. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree, Jacob plans to enter either medical school or NSU's school of optometry. |
Jacob has an out-going personality that welcomes involvement with people. While at NSU, Jacob has been a member of the NSU Honors Program, Alpha Chi, Ro Theta Sigma, Kappa Mu Epsilon (math majors), and the College Republicans. In addition he will serve as the 2010-2011 Honor's program president. In April of 2010, Jacob received the Honor's Society Award at NSU for participation in two or more student academic organizations and while retaining his 4.00 GPA. |
Outside of college, Jacob is a regular athlete participating in a variety intramural sports and cross-country training. He runs on average 15-20 miles a week and is training for participation in a marathon in April, 2011. Among his other favorite physical activities is ultimate frisbee and repelling. |
Another pastime of Jacob's is collecting authentic metal WWII miniatures. To accurately display these soldiers, Jacob sculpts his own dioramas to match the historical figures. |
In 2007, at the age of 17, Jacob completed the necessary flight hours and testing to earn his private pilot's license. Although he considered piloting as a possible career at one time, he now has decided to maintain his interest as another pastime. |
